Who we are
Limelight Theatricals is a Youth Musical Theatre Group for 14-19 year olds. We are based in Thurles and are open to participants from all the surrounding areas. We were set up by Emily Matthews and Therese Maher in 2023 for the purpose of putting on a musical theatre production every summer. Since then we've grown, and are now offering plays, and opportunities to develop the creative and technical skills associated with theatre.
About
Therese Maher
Therese has been running the Dwan Academy Performing Arts School since 2010. She holds a BA in Music, a postgrad in Stage Management, and MFA in Performance, and is a PhD candidate with the Drama and Theatre programme at Mary Immaculate College. As well as directing and choreographing musicals around the country she works as a peripatetic music teacher.
In early 2025 she set up First Act Theatrical Training, which will be launching its first full time vocational Musical Theatre course in September 2026.
Her passion is working with young children and teenagers and guiding them through the process of creating a show, from the on stage performances to the back stage creative and technical aspects.
